Charity Fund Raising - 2004

Over the Christmas period the Band played at various locations around the County and collected over £1600 for charity.  This year we chose to support 'Macmillan Cancer Relief'.

Jackie Hopkinson, who took the cheque on behalf of the charity, said that the money would be used locally, offering practical help to cancer sufferers and their families.  The new service helps people with the often daunting paperwork involved in claiming benefits at a very stressful time. 

The Band raised the cash by playing outside Tesco and Morrisons supermarkets in the town and at private dinners.  There were also individual donations from people associated with the Band. 

Dereham Band has been collecting for local charities at Christmas for many years and members express their gratitude to the public for their generous support and to the supermarkets for allowing them to play outside their stores.
